Kachina Women Series

The paintings in this series feature Kachina women, representing the feminine guardian and protector in us all, along with animal totems, full moons, star filled skies, Sedona-inspired landscapes with mini stories of their metaphysical meanings.

I lived in Sedona, Arizona for five years and continue to be hugely inspired by the sacred energy of the land, the gorgeous red rock landscape, and the native american traditions that honor the earth and all of its inhabitants equally.

Mountain Lion Woman ountain lion lends you the courage to step into your power. It is often a journey we must walk alone. If your heart is open, she’ll walk with you and show you the beauty and magic of the solitary path. She shares her persistence and patience to stalk your dreams and to seize opportunities when the timing is right. And when you’ve accomplished your mission, mountain lion circles you back to your clan were you arrive bolder and wiser, ready to lead when destiny calls.

Bear Woman She calls on her helpmates, raccoon and owl. Raccoon helps her see clearly through all masks and shadows of illusion. Owl helps her connect to deep inner wisdom and to rise above any unhelpful habits, limiting beliefs, or mis-perceptions. Eagle Rock, in the upper right corner, signifies her connection to the Divine and her courage to face the truth and rise above. The full moon helps her remember that she was born from light and is light.Affirmation: “I step fully into my power and the light that I am.”

Placing the Stars Three kachina woman are placing stars in the sky. They are a reminder that it’s time to step into our power as the bringers of light. The Kachina on the left wears a butterfly symbolizing everlasting life. The women in the center displays the female God and destination symbols representing our ultimate desire to embody the god within. The Kachina on the right sports several symbols, which combined, convey our time here on earth and our journey to everlasting life. Stars are a symbol for guidance and divine life force energy.

Polar Bear Woman “Love is Patient and Enduring” .In this painting the Polar Bear is appreciated for being a powerful and loving guide. Are you starting a new venture, training for a marathon, or facing difficult times? Call on the polar bear’s natural patience and endurance to see you through. Polar bear lends us great courage and strength. With the polar bear at our side we can thrive in challenging situations and places. When the polar bear appears in our life, it might also be a call for more quiet time and introspection. Use the solitude to turn within. Listen to your intuition and the inspiration from beyond. You are being guided to awaken to your greater potential.

Cathedral Rock Butterflies Spring has sprung at Cathedral Rock. The meadow is lush with wild flowers, butterflies abound, and a puppy playfully chases a butterfly. It is a time of new beginnings and possibilities. If you’re drawn to this image, you’ve come through a challenging time, maybe even with a few bumps and bruises. Butterfly Woman The Butterfly Woman is teaching a young girl to call in the medicine (magic) of the butterfly. They watch in joy and appreciation as the butterflies multiply and dance around a fool moon. The butterfly represents the culmination of a spiritual transformation. Dragonfly Woman Dragonfly lends us the ability to change, adapt and transform with grace and ease. Dragonflies are dancing over a large body of water. They were born in water and water is their element. Water represents the realm of feelings. Dragonfly gives us the strength to navigate the highs and lows of our emotions. There are seven dragonflies (6 in the sky and 1 on her dress) indicating you are on the right path. If there are any obstacles in your way, you’ll soon overcome them. If you’ve chosen the dragonfly, there will be no walking or crawling for you, you were built to fly!

Kachina Woman Kachina woman represents the divine feminine protector within us all. She is a gentle and loving guardian of animals, earth and human kind. She reminds us that we’re all connected. When I care for you, I care for myself. We are many. We are one.Full Moon Prayer of Intention:“Dear Moon, I call on your power and strength to help me stay true to the intentions I set many moons ago. May I stay the course and continue to nurture and water the seeds I planted that haven’t germinated yet or that are just starting to break ground. Calling in the Magic Kachina Woman is calling in the power and magic of Raven to help her and her tribe transform challenging times into blessings. The ravens will watch over her and help her dream journey to acquire the insight she needs. Raven sees through the darkness and can help us navigate much needed change with courage, confidence, and a strong dose of playful craftiness. The six ravens in the painting encourage us to turn away from financial and material concerns, to keep our thoughts positive and know that the unfolding changes are meant to be good for us. Star Tender I like to imagine that everyone of us is responsible for caring for a particular aspect of planet earth and the universe. In this painting Kachina Woman loving cares for and nurtures the star system. Stars are a symbol for guidance and divine life force energy.

Flower Owl You have a sweet and innocent connection with the Divine and your own intuitive wisdom. You see what others can’t and, as a heart-centered soul, you often see an individual’s highest potential with such clarity it can be a shock when that person does not live up to their soul’s promise. While your heart is innocent and open, you are encouraged to set healthy boundaries from people and situations that do not walk this life with the same integrity that you do. Little Mouse says to notice and be grateful for small blessings. Bear Claw shares its powerful medicine to heal and transform. New Beginnings – Hummingbirds The hummingbirds and nest in this painting are signaling a time of new beginnings and the start of something new. This new endeavor will seemingly occur our of the blue or as if you stumbled upon it. However it is the result of seeds planted long ago and now everything is coming together. It is cause for celebration because this new endeavor will bring you much delight and abundance. The elements of air in this painting are also signifying that any foggy stagnation of the past is clearing and the winds of change are blowing you in the right direction.
