The Mind, The Model, The Diet
Episode 5
We’ve been told the mind is the key to success. But how do we harness it? I recently discovered a tool called the Self-Coaching Model. It’s a game changer. I’ll share a concrete example of how I’m putting The Model to work to change my mind about my diet and how I eat. I’m discovering that when I think better, I eat better!
What you’ll discover:
- The mind can be either heaven or hell, which you experience depends on you.
- You are not your thoughts and you are not at the mercy of your thoughts.
- You are the consciousness behind your thoughts. You can witness your thoughts and choose new thoughts.
- The human brain has a tendency towards negative bias (finding problems), negative thinking and repetitive thought patterns which are typically based on old conditioning and programming.
- A taxed nervous system, resulting from prolonged illness, stress or trauma, can exacerbate the brain’s problem finding tendencies resulting in increased negative and/or anxious thinking.
- When you teach your brain how to think better thoughts, you’ll feel better.
- Most of us let our brains run wild, like an undisciplined child allowing it to think whatever it wants, most of which is negatively and unhelpful.
- If we want to create more success and fulfillment in life, we need to manage our mindset and practice telling our brains what to think.
- The Self-Coaching Model is a tool that will help you gain mastery over what your brain thinks and the outcomes you create in life.
- Changing negative beliefs can be a challenge. This is because when we think something often enough it becomes a habit. Once it becomes a habit, the thoughts that formed that habit go unconscious and are stored in our subconscious. This is why we can feel miserable without consciously knowing why.
- The Model is also a useful tool for unearthing thought patterns that have gone unconscious.
- The concept and components that make up the Self-Coaching Model.
- How The Model makes habit change easier and more effective.
Episode Questions to Ponder …
- Where are you stuck or not moving forward in your life right now?
- When you contemplate taking a specific action on your dream, how do you feel? Do you feel energized, determined, or hopeful? Or do you feel confused, stuck or defeated? If it’s the later, notice what you’re thinking and consider using The Self-Coaching Model and the thought ladder technique from Episode 4 to start shifting the unhelpful thoughts and feelings.
- How do you really want to feel instead?
- And, what would you need to think to feel that way?
