I really don’t like the cold, but when it snows, the outdoors is a magical place to be. We went for a walk in the woods Sunday morning. It was just after our first significant snowfall of the season. Every tree and limb was covered in a frosting of white. I’m not sure how or why it happens, but the snowfall turned the landscape into a black and white photo (photo above). Maybe it’s because, under the weight of the snow, the trees lean towards each other blocking out much of the sky? Or maybe it was the overcast day? Whatever it was, the lights seem lighter and the shadows appeared darker. We marveled at how black the river looked. That is until the sky began to clear. Check out the photo below that my son George took. Isn’t the blue of the sky and its reflection on the river amazing?!! That delicious bright, bold blue just lights me up! I am so glad I went. I would have missed this magical winter wonderland had I stayed indoors. If I could package up and send you a few things this Christmas it would be similar moments of wonder and delight and a Christmas stocking overflowing with peace and contentment. I’d also include a reminder that the magic of Christmas isn’t out there somewhere. It’s inside you and me. It’s all the love we have in our hearts. And giving and receiving love is the greatest, most magical gift of all. Much love 💖and Merry Christmas, Natalie |
