Following the Breadcrumbs of Joy, Art and Spirit.

“All roads lead home.” I don’t know who said that but I feel its truth. When I look back over my life, it’s as if there is a golden tread tying together all of my heart’s callings and passions.

As a young girl and woman, I didn’t realize my early fascinations, and sometimes seemly separate explorations, would become lifelong interests: namely creativity, writing, art, metaphysics, and marketing. Professionally, I enjoyed a successful thirty-five year career in marketing communications and seven years as an intuitive energy healer, consulting hypnotist and intuitive coach. I’ve also enjoyed painting as a hobby for over thirty years, and within the last three years professionally as a selling artist.

And now, all of these seemingly unrelated endeavors are coming together in a beautiful way for me to be of service in the world today, namely through painting, teaching, and inspiring others to follow their heart and create a life filled with more joy and beauty.

Artist Statement

As an acrylic mixed media artist, what excites me the most about painting is color and visual texture.

My process is a dance between intuition and discernment. I approach the canvas with a sense of playful curiosity and experimentation, building up layers of color using paint, marks, script, pattern, and hand painted papers. Portions are sometimes removed with paper towels, rubbing alcohol or sandpaper. This process of adding and removing, creates delightful surprises and layers of scrumptious visual texture. Since, the layers are built from many “happy accidents,” no two are ever exactly alike.

I use color and visual texture to express the wonder and delight I feel in the presence of nature, including birch trees, marshes, winterberries, flower and spirit animals.

An underlying theme in my art is the connection we have with Spirit, animals and nature. I am fascinated by how the universe and our subconscious speak to us through Sacred Messengers, especially those in the form of wild animals, trees, nature elements, numbers, symbols and synchronicities.

Artist Bio

Natalie Eve Marquis is an accomplished acrylic mixed media artist with a passion for color, texture, and creating art that evokes a sense of wonder and delight. With over 30 years of experience as a painter and 3 years as a professional artist, Natalie has developed a unique artistic style invites the viewer to experience nature in a truly magical way, igniting the senses and inspiring the imagination.

Natalie is a self-directed artist and hones her craft through an almost daily painting practice. Completing Louise Fletcher’s “Find Your Joy” mini-course in 2021 and Nicholas Wilton’s 12-week “Creative Visionary Program” in 2022 proved to be transformative for her art, taking it to the next level.

Natalie’s professional journey began when she realized her true calling and overcame her limiting beliefs about making a living as a fine artist. She had always felt that she was meant to be an artist, but it wasn’t until February 25, 2020, when she set a goal to paint “a little bit” every day for 30 days, that she truly began to believe in her own abilities. What started as a simple commitment soon turned into a 105-day streak, during which she discovered that she could create her own compositions and sell her work. With this newfound confidence, Natalie made a commitment to dedicate the remaining chapters of her life to her love of painting and becoming a working artist.

With color and texture as unifying aspects, Natalie has two distinct artistic styles – one that showcases her playful, whimsical side, and the other her more reverent, painterly side. Her paintings feature various elements of nature, such as birch trees, marshes, winterberries, spirit animals, and florals.

Natalie has exhibited her work in solo shows at the Cold Mountain Cafe in Bethlehem, NH and the Kingston, NH, Moultonborough, NH, Newington, NH and the Hamilton-Wendham, MA Libraries. She has also exhibited in group shows at Art Up Front Street Studios and Gallery in Exeter, NH, Studio 50 in Salisbury, MA, and the YMCA in Exeter, NH.  Her original artwork and fine prints are available for purchase through her website.

In the fall of 2022, Natalie began teaching art with the hope of encouraging women to reconnect with their creative passions. Similar to her painting process, Natalie’s teaching method is magical; a dance of intuition, experience and enthusiasm that stems from wanting others to follow their heart and fill their life with joy and beauty.
