This small series of marsh landscapes, or Marsh-Scapes, was nudged to life when I pondered why I was so drawn to the soft, open white spaces that I’d seen in a couple of paintings on Instagram. Why did I find these particular areas of the paintings so alluring? Then, I began noticing how much I am enchanted by the soft semi-transparent mist that rises from the marshes when I’m out kayaking early in the morning. And, how cozy and lovely I find fields and hills when they are slightly obscured on a foggy day. Misty mornings and light foggy days are magical to me. And so with paint, drips, marks and sometimes even paper collage, I began to explore several subjects that delight me – mist, marshes and flowers. I hope you find them these “Marsh-Scapes” as magical to look as it was to create them!
